PITTSBURGH (Reuters) - Nate McLouth's two-run homer guided the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 4-2 win over New York on Thursday, snapping the Yankees' four-game winning streak.

Pirates (43-48) centre fielder McLouth broke a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning, his shot to right field off reliever Jose Veras also scoring shortstop Jack Wilson.

"Sometimes it works out that way," McLouth told reporters, of his home run. "I messed up the bunt the pitch before. Luckily, I got a pitch ... and didn't miss it."

Pirates lefthander Paul Maholm (6-5) pitched eight innings, giving up two runs and striking out four for the win.

Bobby Abreu hit a two-out, two-RBI single in the seventh inning to tie the game, in a rare lapse by Maholm.
