Patrick Chanezon is looking forward to trying out many applications from Thai developers.

There is an opportunity for the Thai developer community to create applications using open source tools and application programming interfaces (APIs) provided by Google.

Last week, Google together with eXo Platform, Friendster, Globant, Hi5 and Barcamp Bangkok organised the first-ever Google DevFest in Thailand, as part of the first Google DevFest tour of Southeast Asia, which includes Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. It was also part of the launch of the social network site Friendster in Thailand.

Last week, over 350 Thai developers flocked to Google DevFest at Chulalongkorn University. The one-day technical workshop was held for developers to learn how to create OpenSocial applications for the eXo Platform, Friendster, Hi5 and iGoogle. It also covered practical advice on building web applications from Google engineers and technical tips for working with social networking platforms from those four global companies.

OpenSocial and Google's Developer Programme were the two major themes of Google DevFest.
