Love feted in all its guises
Love was all around on Valentine's Day yesterday, expressed in roses and gifts and weddings in different styles at locations with auspicious names such as Bangkok's Bang Rak district. The district, popular with couples due to its name's meaning of "Village of Love", has hosted a special service on Valentine's Day for years.
In Trang's Sikao district, the underwater ceremony at Pak Meng Beach wedded 35 couples in front of 500 witnesses. The couples included actor Supakit Tangkhasawat and bride Anoma Sarankhirin, actress Claudia and Akkharapol Wichitranont, PM's Office Minister Sathit Wongnongtoey and bride Suporn and former Elephant Queen pageant first runner-up Jitrawadi Chutimantra and groom Sutthipong Narongpan. After a water-blessing on Friday night, they released one million marine creatures into the sea before five couples dived to wed underwater at Had Chao Mai Marine Park while others opted to do so on land.
