Spend four days immersed in traditional Thai cooking and culture at the Prem Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

Experience a new level of cooking class in Chiang Mai, Thailand created by Su-Mei Yu, an award-winning restaurateur, cooking teacher and author.

Su-Mei Yu has designed a special four-day vegetarian cooking course and cultural experience from October 12 to 16 2009, in honor of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival. The Prem Organic Cooking and Farming Academy is unlike any other cooking school in Thailand.

Seasonal, organic, and local Thai specialties that have been handed down for generations are the focus of the class and not the typical tourist fare.

Located at the Organic Cooking and Farming Academy at Prem Center in Chiang Mai, this course offers an entire culinary and cultural experience.

Created by Mom Tri Devakul, the Prem Center provides a range of institutions and programs committed to education for global responsibility and the betterment of humanity. This four-day immersion is an opportunity to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the spirituality of Thai traditions and practices through its culinary arts.

The Four-Day Vegetarian Cooking Course and Cultural Experience from October 12 to 16, 2009 will include accommodation at The Prem Center in addition to:

1. Hands-on cooking classes of traditional Thai vegetarian dishes with produce picked from our organic farm. Menus will be based on seasonal vegetables and fruits.

2. As the guest of a Thai family, you will cook and prepare alms trays and baskets as offerings for monks, attend and participate in the worship at the temple, receive blessings from the monks and stay for lunch with other participants at the temple.

3. A class on the Thai philosophy of health and the theory of the basic nine natural tastes, flavors and aromas. You will learn how apply this knowledge to your own lifestyle by making herbal teas and simple Thai salad dressings, as well as seasoning pastes, some of which will be included in the dishes you will prepare for a meal.

4. Visit with a Thai natural healer who will share with you how to use medicinal remedies in herbs and spices. A special vegetarian meal using seasonal greens, vegetables, herbs and spices will be served.
5. Traditional Thai massage and meditation to banish stress and anxiety.

6. Visit to a local traditional market where you will select and buy your choice of vegetables and fruits. Upon returning to the classroom, you will be taught how to cook with your selections and share your creations with your classmates.

The price includes:
1. Vegetarian cooking classes and cultural experience.
