Learn kitesurfing in Thailand with the KITOONS Kitesurf School & Shop - Thailand - Sports - Water Sports

Kitesurfing in Thailand has been growing and growing over the past years and the region has developed in one of the major kiteboarding destinations worldwide. For all who want to pick up the sport Thailand is an ideal destination to learn, because of its warm waters and small shore breaks. The winds are typically between 14-20 knots, which is the perfect wind range for students to learn and practice.

KITOONS' staff teachers are all English speaking foreigners with IKO certification. Students taking a course will first learn all the safety aspects of kiteboarding. The lessons take place in shallow water, which preserves the energy of the students and enables them to learn faster and with more fun. A course can be tailored to individual needs and so for most fun seeking tourists a day is split between 1.5 hours in the late morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. KITOONS claims that their students learn exceptionally fast due to their refined teaching methods. According to KITOONS' head instructor Rutger van den Akker, an energetic friendly Dutch national, it's quite common that students start riding on the board on the third day of their kitesurfing course. The lessons include all rental gear so tourists don't need to bring anything except some guts, sun cream and a bottle of water.

The best three kitesurfing spots in Thailand are Hua Hin (along with Pranburi), Phuket and Chumphon. While Hua Hin is quite developed, the 30km away alternative Pranburi is quite a sleepy town with just a few resorts. Both these destinations have a wind season from late October till the start of the monsoon around 1st of April. Chumphon has the same wind season, and some say it is the windiest kitesurfing spot in Thailand. Chumphon is a small town and not many tourists come to stay. So for those who love it quiet and serene, this is a good alternative. Phuket on the other hand, is one of Thailand major tourist hubs and offers anything travelers look for from top resorts to cheap stays. Dine at a 5 star hotel or eat for a few Baht at the next noodle shop. Needless to say, the nightlife is infamous. Phuket's kitesurf season is different and the winds blow usually between April and October.

Amongst the thousand of expats living in Bangkok kitesurfing has become increasingly popular. No wonder, since the nearest beach town is Hua Hin, just a 2 1/2 hour drive away. KITOONS offers free introductions to all expats in the evening hours. It's a good idea for those pondering over wether kitesurfing is their cup of tea or not. Sit in their beautiful garden, enjoy a drink and get your questions answered before heading to the beach.

KITOONS offers premium kiteboarding equipment from some of the best brands there are. They are the official importer of Wainman Hawaii, a kitesurfing company, which made some headlines recently. They are also the official distributor of Flexifoil, one of the biggest and most established kitesurfing manufacturers in the world. The KITOONS kitesurf shop is located in Bangkok.
