Brunei, Thailand Bolster Education Ties
The MoU was signed by Brunei Minister of Education (MoE) Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Hj Abdul Rahman Dato Setia Hj Mohamed Taib and his Thai counterpart, Jurin Laksanawisit at the ministry's building in Beralcas. According to the Thai minister, the signing of MoU officially marked the very first chapter in the history of cooperation in education between the two countries.
Earlier the two ministers held a meeting where they discussed a number of issues, which include bilateral relationship and cooperation on education and training such as in the areas of technical and vocational education as well as school and institutional linkages.
After the signing ceremony, the Thai minister and his delegations were briefed on the new education system (SPN 21) and the MoE's strategic plan, by Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) Hj Mohd Daud HjMahmud.
Thailand's Minister of Education who is also President of The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) Council, was in Brunei as part of his working visit as the President of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council to the SEAMEO Regional Centre.
