Children in a village in Thailand will get a hands-on lesson with an Australian Rules football this week thanks to Solomontown captain Jarrad Davies.

He and his partner on holiday in Thailand this week, and while there will visit the village of a family friend, taking with him a swag of footballs. The footballs were donated by the South Australian National Football League and the Australian Football League, afterthe leagues were approached with the idea. Davies will spend three days in the villiage, and is excited to see “something people don’t normally get a chance to see”, he said.

The AFL also provided material, including a DVD, to leave with the school teachers in the Thai village.

The school has about 60 students that will be able to learn basic footy skills.

And the village will show its appreciation when Davies and his partner arrive by holding a party.
