Thai Cabinet lifts security act enforced in Bangkok - Thailand - Bangkok - security

The Cabinet on Tuesday lifted the Internal Security Act (ISA) earlier imposed in the Thai capital from November 18 through December 14 after the anti-government Red Shirt demonstrators cancelled their planned mass rally.

Security agencies Monday met to evaluate the public safety situation across the spectrum and decided that the situation is normal, so the advice regarding the ISA was proposed to the Cabinet on Tuesday.

Moreover, the public is happily celebrating events connected with the birthday of  His Majesty the King on December 5, so the Cabinet revoked the ISA in the capital.

The Cabinet earlier imposed the law across Bangkok from November 28 through December 14 to maintain law and order during the Red Shirts’ protest to oust the Abhisit Vejjajiva government. The United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) has vowed to force the government from office.
