Thailand's Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva left Bangkok on Friday to attend the 40th World Economic Forum 2010 in Davos, Switzerland during January 29-31.

This year’s World Economic Forum will be attended by national leaders, heads of international organisations, business, private and public sector representatives and world media totalling 2,500 persons from over 90 countries.

The theme “Improve the State of the World: Rethink, Redesign, Rebuild” will emphasise creating networks of cooperation in economic recovery and welfare, preventing risks or the failure of sustainable development, creating confidence, good attitudes, as well as making more efficient global mechanisms and organisations.

The Thai premier will meet with other leaders and carry his visions and boost confidence in Thailand’s proactive economic policy.  He will also show willingness to cooperate with the global community and various sectors in solving problems and dealing with world challenges.

He also plans to encourage private sector leaders to join the Thailand Round Table 2011 in June to meet with Thailand’s state and business sectors on trade and investment cooperation.

Mr Abhisit will speak and participate in meetings including one of the theme of “Global Redesign-Priority for Strengthening the International System,” in which the prime minister will define his vision regarding international cooperation for global change, the main issue of the forum.

He will also give a keynote speech and exchange ideas in a meeting on “Food Security, Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture: An Agenda for action”.
