IBM Thailand sees best software growth in 50 years - Thailand - Business - Technology - IBM - software

IBM has enjoyed its strongest software growth in 50 years at its Thailand office as of last year's fourth quarter, thanks to the acquisition of competitors' customers.

This year, Big Blue will continue its bundling strategy and offer a cloud computing model in a move to reduce costs for customers.

Jadesada Kraisingkorn, Country Manager, IBM Thailand, said the company will continue its strategy from last year by bundling hardware and software to customers, and will also continue its drive to gain competitor's customers.

Contributing to last year's fourth quarter performance was the securing of two big contracts acquired from Oracle customers.

This year, IBM will emphasise business analytic software as a flagship product and combine vertical industry expertise and best practice framework to add more value.

Neil Isford, vice president, Worldwide Information Management and Business Analytics Sales, Software Group, added that the new IBM study regarding the role information-based decision making plays in successful business strategies shows that the new post-performing companies were 10- 15 times more likely to apply analytics to strategic decisions than their underperforming peers.

This brings the Business Analytics market an opportunity expected to reach $105 billion (3.49 trillion baht) globally this year, while the market size of information management business in Asean is expected to reach $550 million.
