Thai police to question witness after PM residence attacked by human waste - Thailand - crime - Abhisit Vejjajiva

Police have planned to question a taxi driver as a witness after security camera footage featured his taxi, which was parking nearby a scene, where a man on a motorcycle did throw bags of human waste and fermented fish into the prime minister's residential compound Monday.

The investigation is being conducted after the bags of foul- smelling excrement and the fermented fish, the Thai northeastern food specialty, were thrown into the residential compound of Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva in capital Bangkok, Thai News Agency reported.

The investigators will also verify mobile phone users within a one kilometer radius from the premier's house during the incident, Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Pol Lt-Ben Santan Chayanont said.

It is believed the waste dumping was aimed at discrediting the premier, said Pol Lt-Ben Santan, however this incident reflects badly on the perpetrator himself, not on the prime minister.

He said that security cameras will be additionally installed on the area surrounding the premier's residential compound within three days as more security personnel will also be deployed to guard his residence.
