Japanese firms still see Thailand as investment base: JETRO
JETRO President Munenori Yamada said the results of a survey on business sentiments of Japanese joint venture companies in Thailand in the first six months of 2010 indicated that most firms remain confident the Thai economy would recover.
According to the survey, although recovery was not in a V-shaped pattern and as good as in 2008, Japanese businessmen from 395 companies viewed that all types of industries have received better gains despite lower growth ratios, while more than 40 per cent of the investors said they wanted the exchange rate to stay at Bt33-34/US$1 to prepare their business plans.
Eighty-five per cent of respondents were positive they would have more profit before tax deductions, while about half believed the export tendency would improve in the first six months this year, but not fully recover to the same level as in 2008.
