Burmese Slaves Rescued by Police Near Pattaya - Thailand - Pattaya - crime - slavery


A group of 7 Burmese illegal immigrants have been rescued from imprisonment by their employers, after they were deceived into coming to Thailand to work in a Bangkok textile factory.



At approximately 6:30pm on Friday, police Lieutenant General Kittiphong Ngaomuk (Region 2 Police Commissioner) was informed by the Workers Rights and Quality of Life Foundation director Mr. Piya Seeracot that a Burmese man had been in contact with him, stating; a group of his fellow countrymen and himself were being forcefully detained and made to work without pay.

The Burmese national Mr. Tern [37] explained that he and a group of his friends were being made to work without pay at the Saphan Sai fishing pier, Samaesarn in Sattahip. He also informed Mr. Seeracot that they had been given very little food and were now fearing for their lives. The Trafficking of Woman & Children Office Gendarme Region 2 officers were sent to investigate the scene and free the detained workers.

At the scene officers located the imprisoned workers, Mr. Da Kee [20], Mr. Lin Te [17], Mr. Tan Chid [17], Mr. Tern Win [37], Mr. Mu Jortu [31], Mr. Chit Go [39] and Mr Mao Mr Maotin [unknown age] releasing them from captivity. Following this, police entered the nearby residence, arresting Mrs. Win [30], who along with her husband had enslaved the seven Burmese men and imprisoned them without food. Her husband managed to flee the scene before police could apprehend him.
