Thaksin arrives in Cambodia's Siem Reap province by private jet - Thailand - Thaksin Shinawatra - politics

Fugitive former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra left Dubai and arrived in Siem Reap province of Cambodia by his private jet on Friday, the prime minister's secretary Chavanont Intarakomalsut said.

Thailand's Foreign Ministry has already contacted the Thai embassy to Cambodia in Phnom Penh to monitor Thaksin's activities in the neighbouring country, Mr. Chavanont said.

The Foreign Ministry is also checking a report claming Mr. Thaksin has been expelled by the United Arab Emirates.

The reports were quickly denied by Mr. Thaksin's close aide Noppadon Pattama.

Mr. Noppadon said the former premier was still in Dubai and did not plan to travel to Cambodia.

Mr. Noppadon added Thaksin's ex-wife, Khunying Potjaman na Pombejra, was now in Hong Kong, and that his two daughters, Pinthongta and Praethongtan, were staying in Germany.

Yingluck Shinawatra, Thaksin's younger sister, had also travelled abroad, Mr Noppadon said, without mentioning the country.
