DTAC targets 175,000 iPhone users - DTAC - Thailand - Technology - Mobile Phone - iPhone

Thailand's second largest mobile operator DTAC hopes to double the number of its iPhone user subscribers, reaching 175,000 this year, with the help of attractive tariff packages and wide distribution channels.

DTAC currently has 87,775 iPhone users signed up with the company's services out of a total 900,000 smartphone users.

The mobile operator officially launched iPhone in Thailand last week under the "iPhone best runs on DTAC network" slogan.

The company offers three promotional packages to iPhone buyers. The 449-baht package enables users to make calls totalling 225 minutes plus 200 free SMS messages and 30 free MMS, and 100 megabits of internet data transfer, per month. The 580-baht package allows 250 minutes, 300 SMS messages, 50 MMS and unlimited internet usage. The 699-baht package offers 350 minutes, 400 SMS, 75 MMS and unlimited data usage.

DTAC iPhones are available at 106 points of sales nationwide: 49 DTAC shops, 31 iStudio outlets, 10 each at its authorised distributors Jay Mart shops and TG Phone shops, and 16 booths under the direct sales teams.

The mobile company is planning to extend its data network capacity by 30 percent this month and upgrade its existing 10,000 base stations to Edge technology in April. The expansion is expected to accommodate more than 300,000 users simultaneously.
