Red-shirted anti-government protesters threatened Monday to toss 1 million cubic centimeters (1,000 liters) of blood on official buildings in Bangkok in order to press Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to dissolve the House of Representatives.

The Red Shirts made the announcement an hour after Mr Abhisit ignored their demand to dissolve parliament by noon Monday.

Nattawut Saikua,  a leader for the group United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) said the protesters would collect 1,000 liters (1 million cubic centimeters) of blood Tuesday and then throw it on the grounds of the Government House, which is also a home to ministerial offices.

If the premier still refuses to dissolve parliament, the Red Shirts said, they would collect another 1,000 liters of blood the next day and pour it around the headquarters of the ruling Democratic party.

The next day, they would target the prime minister's residence with another 1,000 liters.
