Red Shirts to scatter on Bangkok streets in "class war" on Saturday
UDD leaders on Wednesday vowed to extend their protest to the streets of Bangkok on Saturday in an attempt to bring down the Abhisit Vejjajiva administration.
Red Shirt leader Natthawut Saikua announced Wednesday evening that a meeting of UDD leaders agreed to prolong their demonstrations until their demand is responded to by the government.
Mr Natthawut added that on Saturday the group would mobilise its supporters across Bangkok to launch the first "class war," inviting Bangkokians to join the mass protests to topple Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajjiva's government.
"Just when they think we cannot stay much longer, we'll prove them wrong. We will stay longer, for days or even months, until we win," Mr Natthawut said.
Pickup trucks would move around Bangkok on Saturday and drum up support for what he described as a class war. "They will go to every street and ask the people to join the campaign to bring down amataya. It will be the beginning of a class war," he said.
He said the prolonged rally will cause trouble to the government as the premier will not be able to enter Government House and his residence.
Mr Natthawut said regional UDD leaders would meet in their hometowns on Friday to evaluate the situation and set up their strategies.
