Residents and tourists across Pattaya mobilized on foot and motorcycle to raise more than 400,000 baht to assist victims of deadly floods in southern Thailand.

Pattaya Permanent Secretary Wuttipol Charoenphol and city council members said 260,097 baht was collected at various city-sponsored booths throughout the city in the past week.

People dug deep and dropped money into boxes at the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, Y.W.C.A. Bangkok-Pattaya Center, Southern Thai Association, Pattaya Business & Tourism Association, Ayutthaya Association, and Pattaya Business Operators Association.

The money was deposited into a special Bangkok Bank account devoted to southern flood relief.

On April 5, the city received an 82,100 baht donation from the Python Motorcycle Club, which had raised funds through sales of hats, shirts, belts, watches and rings at a Walking Street event on April 1.
