General Motors is hoping to create market interest ahead of its US rival Ford, which began producing its new Ranger pickup in Thailand last week but has not set an exact date for sales.
The new Colorado will be available in 2.8- and 2.5-litre versions, with direct-injection diesel engines built at GM Thailand's new $200-million engine plant in Rayong. A total of 26 variants of the Colorado will be offered, with choices of powertrains, cabins and ride heights.
The 2.5-litre model will be priced from 537,000 to 808,000 baht depending on configurations. The prices of the 2.8-litre model will be announced on Oct 17.
Stocks of the old Colorado have been cleared and production of new model will start on Oct 15.
