AN Australian man has been killed in Thailand after falling from a fourth-floor balcony.

Dean McKeon, 33, who was found by a security guard at the C&N Hotel in Patong at 6.40am on Saturday, has been described as a "beautiful bloke", the Geelong Advertiser reported.

His mother Rayna McKeon said her son, lovingly nicknamed "Deanos'', was generous to a fault.

"Dean was the most humble, amazing, kind-hearted man and even today we are learning just how valued and appreciated he was by his friends and work colleagues,'' Mrs McKeon said.

"Dean was most comfortable and outgoing when with his massive circle of friends, to whom he was exceptionally loyal. He would give his last dollar to those in need.''

Mr McKeon had been staying with five other friends at the Thai resort for a 30th birthday when the tragic accident happened.

The Phuket Wan News reported that Mr McKeon may have been sleepwalking when he fell from the low balcony at his hotel room.
