Thai cowboys flock to Northern Thailand

Isaan, Thailand's northeast region, has developed its own cowboy culture, since US troops stationed in the country during the Vietnam War over forty years ago, locals say.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is promoting "Tourism Season in Ubon Ratchathani" in order to highlight the province's great attractions and boost sales for local hotels and tour operators. The campaign, which officially began on November 21, 2009, is part of Tourism Authority of Thailand's "Visit I-San Year" campaign and hopes to increase tourism for Ubon Ratchathani, as it develops into an important bridgehead to the Greater Mekong Subregion.
